Plastic the Ocean Killer

  This week, I watched 3 Ted Talks , which were videos that focused on our environmental impact on the oceans. My favorite one and the one I am going to talk about was about plastic in the ocean and how it negatively affects the environment. The main idea of this Ted Talk was that to solve our ocean plastic problem we need to make plastic an article of value.   Plastic Problem      One idea that I found interesting was that it’s cheaper to make new plastic than it is to recycle it. I thought it was interesting because most materials we make are cheaper to recycle than they are to make like metals and such.   ( Tokmakov, Sergei)      It made me wonder why plastic was cheaper to make than to recycle, so I looked up some more information about this idea. Climate Change

       This week, I read what you can do to help prevent climate change, according to experts, which is an article that focuses on climate change.        The main idea of this article is that we need to start helping to prevent climate change the best we can.     Environmental Protections        One idea that I found interesting was according to Julia Jacobo, t he Trump Administration, for instance, has rolled back 85 environmental protections since 2017, including several on drilling and emissions.        I thought it was interesting because that means our government is doing the opposite of what it should be doing to prevent climate change. Also that with our current administration our government is not trying its hardest to prevent climate change.                                           ...
